The Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd.), has urged the media to avoid disseminating terrorist propaganda that could undermine the morale of troops and give publicity to criminal groups.
Musa spoke after a strategic meeting with the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs to review operational strategies across various theatres of operation in the country.
In a statement issued by Queenet Iheoma-Hart for the Ministry of Defence, the minister said the Armed Forces and other security agencies were intensifying operations against terrorism, banditry and other forms of insecurity.
He noted that although the military had recorded casualties in the line of duty, security forces had inflicted significant losses on terrorists and bandits.
“The security forces have continued to eliminate several terrorist commanders and destroy their assets,” he said.
Musa called on Nigerians to support the military by providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that tackling insecurity requires collective effort.
He warned that individuals who assist criminal groups with information or logistics would be treated as accomplices.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Richard Pheelangwah, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oloyede, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Lt.-Gen. Emmanuel Udieandeye.
