As part of ongoing preparations for the November 8, 2025, Anambra Governorship Election, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, on Monday, continued his statewide security advocacy with visits to Ihiala Area Command and Oraifite Division.
The engagement aimed to strengthen collaboration among community leaders and security stakeholders toward ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
During the visit, CP Orutugu met with the President General of Ihiala Community, the Commander of Agunechemba Vigilante Group, youth leaders, local government representatives, and police officers under the respective area commands.
He commended the resilience and civic responsibility of residents in both Ihiala and Oraifite, acknowledging their cooperation with security agencies in maintaining peace and resisting criminal influence in political activities. The CP further praised the synergy among security agencies in Oraifite while clarifying that local vigilante groups will not participate in election security operations.
Reaffirming the Police Command’s commitment to safety and order, CP Orutugu assured that all measures have been put in place to guarantee a peaceful, secure, and credible electoral process.
He urged citizens to embrace election patriotism by rejecting intimidation, shunning fear-driven narratives, and participating freely in the democratic process.
The Commissioner also charged police officers to uphold discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights, emphasizing that policing must remain people-centered and intelligence-driven.
He further assured that the Joint Security Framework would be reinforced across communities to prevent criminal infiltration and sustain peace before, during, and after the polls.
