The Nigeria Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have intercepted 347.5 kilogrammes of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis, at the Apapa Port in Lagos.
The illicit drugs were concealed inside an imported Toyota Sienna vehicle contained in a single consignment of four vehicles.
The seizure was carried out by officers of the Apapa Port Command in collaboration with NDLEA operatives during a joint inspection exercise.
A breakdown of the intercepted substance showed that 13 bags were recovered, including 10 bags weighing 25kg each, one bag of 29kg, and two bags weighing 34.5kg and 34kg respectively.

The interception came barely 24 hours after the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, received a World Customs Organisation Certificate of Merit in Abuja.
Speaking on the development, Oshoba warned smugglers and criminal networks against using the port for illicit activities.

“Any attempt by criminal elements to traffic prohibited items through Apapa Port will be detected and thwarted. We remain vigilant and resolute in protecting our society and national security,” he said.
He attributed the success to strong intelligence sharing and inter-agency cooperation championed by the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

Oshoba added that the planned deployment of a high-capacity drive-through scanner would further strengthen technology-driven anti-smuggling operations.
The seized drugs have been formally handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution of suspects.
