The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational breakthroughs in its sustained offensive against violent crime and illicit drug activities, with the interception of an armed group and the dismantling of a notorious drug network in two separate, intelligence-driven operations across the state.
In the first operation, operatives of the Command’s Buffalo Patrol Team, while on routine stop-and-search duty, intercepted a suspicious vehicle conveying armed suspects into the state.
Armed Group Intercepted At Delta–Anambra Boundary
Police sources disclosed that on January 22, 2026, at about 4:10 p.m., officers on patrol at the Head Bridge boundary between Anambra and Delta States stopped a green Toyota Sienna travelling into Delta State from Anambra.

The occupants, all dressed in mufti, claimed they were in the state to welcome a visiting religious leader. However, a thorough search of the vehicle revealed a concealed cache of dangerous weapons, including three pump-action guns, one locally fabricated dane gun, one battle axe, and twenty-six live cartridges.
Six suspects were arrested during the operation. They include Nwanlioba Ikechukwu Dominic (62), Agbata Mathew (35), Osita Chineye (39), Favour Peterson (23), Prince Tochukwu (32), and Clement Nwakwa (51).
The suspects have been taken into custody as investigations continue to determine their mission and possible criminal affiliations.
In a related development, the Command also recorded success in its war against drug abuse and trafficking with the dismantling of an organised drug syndicate operating within the Ugborikoko area of Warri.

On January 20, 2026, at about 10:00 a.m., operatives of the Ugborikoko Division, under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Setemi Agbede-Zoukumor, acted on credible intelligence and carried out a targeted raid within the community.
An initial arrest led to a breakthrough, as the suspect volunteered critical information that enabled the Police to swiftly apprehend six additional suspects, believed to be key figures in the drug supply chain.
Those arrested include Daniel Ojukwu, Rose Otofi, Osaro Okosu, Maro Ibecham, Fregene Victory, and Kevwe Irimoni.
Subsequent searches at their residences yielded a significant cache of illicit drugs and paraphernalia, including 52 packs of GM Gold Indian hemp, one pack of Canadian Loud, 40 packs of Kolorado, 16 sachets of Swinol, 30 tablets of Tramadol, 52 packs of Loud, and two crushers suspected to be used for processing and distribution.
Police Reaffirm Commitment To Public Safety
Reacting to the developments, the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks across Delta State, stressing that proactive and intelligence-led policing remains central to its security strategy.
The Commissioner also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to continue supporting the Police with timely and credible information, assuring the public that all information received would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
