A rare show of unity and political maturity marked the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Congresses in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, as the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, hailed the orderly and consensus-driven exercise across the four councils.
The congresses, held on Saturday in Issele-Uku, Ogwashi-Uku, Akwukwu-Igbo and Asaba, produced new Local Government Area chairmen and executives in what party faithful described as a transparent and harmonious process.
Emerging as chairmen are Sir Matthew Chinye (Aniocha North), Pastor Norbert Akachukwu (Aniocha South), Chief Austin Nnabuife (Ojeogue) (Oshimili North), and Ogbuefe Dada Okolo (Igweomenife) (Oshimili South).
In a statement issued on Sunday, Elumelu commended stakeholders for what he described as a demonstration of political discipline and responsible leadership within the party structure.
He noted that the ability of leaders and members to align interests and adopt a common front reflects a renewed sense of direction and shared aspiration within the constituency and Delta State chapter of the party.
According to him, the consensus model adopted across the four councils underscores a commitment to collective progress over personal ambition.
He said the process showcased restraint, consultation and mutual respect among party leaders and grassroots members.
The former Minority Leader congratulated the newly elected chairmen and executives, expressing confidence in their capacity to strengthen party administration, deepen grassroots engagement and inspire greater confidence among members.
He urged the new leadership to approach their responsibilities with fairness, openness and dedication, stressing that their emergence should be seen as a call to service rather than a personal victory.
He also charged them to foster inclusiveness and sustain collaboration across wards and party blocs to consolidate unity within the fold.
Elumelu further lauded party elders, aspirants and members for embracing dialogue and accommodation in the interest of stability, noting that such political civility provides a solid foundation for growth and electoral competitiveness.
He called on party faithful to rally behind the new executives, emphasizing that enduring success can only be achieved through unity of purpose and sustained commitment to shared goals.
The former lawmaker expressed optimism that the new leadership would usher in a phase of strengthened organisation and purposeful direction for the APC in Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency and Delta State.
