The Imo State Government has intensified efforts towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the convening of the maiden Imo State SDGs Stakeholders’ Roundtable aimed at strengthening partnerships, mobilising support and deepening inclusive development across the state.
The roundtable, convened by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Chinenyenwa Owuamalam, brought together Non-Governmental Organisations, Civil Society Organisations, development partners, student unions and other strategic stakeholders committed to advancing the SDGs in Imo State.

The gathering, stakeholders noted, underscored the determination of the administration of Hope Uzodimma to ensure that no community or vulnerable group is left behind in the state’s development agenda.
Participants at the roundtable explored critical development priorities, identified implementation gaps and discussed innovative partnership models capable of accelerating progress towards the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Speaking during the engagement, Barrister Owuamalam described the initiative as a strategic platform designed to align stakeholders around a common development vision for Imo State.

She noted that the roundtable reflects the government’s commitment to inclusive governance, sustainability and collaborative problem-solving in addressing developmental challenges confronting the state.
According to her, the engagement also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to strengthen commitments, explore funding opportunities and adopt practical resolutions that would shape the future of SDGs implementation in the state.

The participants further emphasized the importance of stronger collaboration between government institutions, civil society groups, development agencies and youth organisations in driving measurable development outcomes.
Observers at the event described the roundtable as a major step towards institutionalising multi-stakeholder participation in governance and sustainable development planning in Imo State.

The stakeholders also reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that promote social inclusion, economic empowerment, quality education, environmental sustainability and improved living standards for residents of the state.
The event ended with renewed calls for sustained partnerships and collective responsibility towards achieving the SDGs before the 2030 deadline.
