The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has inducted the National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Grace Morenike Henry, into its Hall of Fame, in recognition of her humanitarian interventions and sustained support for veterans’ families across the country.
Henry was also presented with the NANS Merit Award for Nation Building during a ceremony held at the Legion’s Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
Presenting the award, NANS Vice President, Mohammed Abdulrazaq, described Henry as a leader whose commitment to public service, integrity, and humanitarian development had earned national admiration.
He commended her efforts in advancing the welfare of veterans and their families through vocational training, empowerment programmes, and humanitarian initiatives, noting that her contributions had positively impacted both the Nigerian Legion and the wider society.
Responding, Henry expressed appreciation to the student body for the recognition, describing her induction into the Hall of Fame as a significant honour.
She urged Nigerian students to shun social vices and negative influences capable of undermining moral values and responsible conduct.
“Negative associations, conversations, and influences can undermine good character and behavior,” she warned, while encouraging students to uphold integrity, discipline, and service to humanity.
Members of the NANS delegation at the event included National Liaison Officer, Victor Obodo; Ahmadu Bello University representative, Amana Frank; National Secretary, Paul Gajik; and Deputy National Secretary, Danjuma Bulus Akolo.
In a related development, Henry empowered the widow of late retired Colonel Godfrey Okechukwu Nebo with an industrial grinding machine and a cash donation as part of ongoing support initiatives for widows of fallen military personnel.
The items were presented to Mrs. Nebo by the Secretary General of the Nigerian Legion, Isah Yakubu, and the Provost of Headquarters Nigerian Legion, Toye Kudehinbu, on behalf of the National Chairman.
The Nigerian Legion said the intervention forms part of deliberate efforts aimed at improving the livelihoods of widows of fallen heroes of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The statement was signed on Friday, 8th May, 2026 by Vet. A.A. Soaga-Adetoro, Director of Corporate Affairs, Nigerian Legion.
