The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has apprehended Lekan Jimoh, a notorious drug kingpin known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” ending a twelve-year manhunt for his involvement in the killing of three agency officers. In a statement by the Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, it was revealed that Jimoh was captured on Friday, January 16, 2026, at his hideout in Owode, Ogun State, following a tip-off. During the raid, operatives recovered 69 kilograms of skunk from the suspect.

Jimoh’s history as a fugitive dates back to June 15, 2014, when he allegedly led an armed mob against NDLEA officers during an attempted arrest. That violent encounter resulted in the deaths of three officers, including Rabiu Usman Kazaure.

The suspect had managed to evade capture for over a decade, narrowly escaping again in August 2023 when a raid on his Ado-Odo residence uncovered 1,922 kilograms of skunk—a property that was subsequently forfeited to the Federal Government.

In addition to this high-profile arrest, the NDLEA conducted simultaneous operations across several states, including Lagos, Edo, Delta, Enugu, and the FCT. These raids led to the arrest of various suspects, including an ex-convict and an online drug vendor, and the seizure of significant quantities of codeine, tramadol, and cannabis. Alongside these enforcement actions, the agency continued its “War Against Drug Abuse” (WADA) advocacy programs in schools and communities throughout the country.

The Chairman of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), praised the officers for their persistence and dedicated the arrest of Jimoh to the families of the fallen officers who had waited years for justice.

Marwa described the capture as a triumph of the law, emphasizing that the agency remains committed to dismantling drug syndicates and ensuring that offenders, regardless of how long they remain in hiding, are eventually held accountable.
