The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has deployed a response team to Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, following a recent bandit attack in the area.
The deployment was directed by the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, who mandated the Agency’s Minna Operations Office responsible for Kwara State to temporarily relocate to the affected communities for a comprehensive on-the-ground assessment.
According to the Agency, the team is tasked with evaluating the extent of the damage, identifying the immediate needs of affected residents, and coordinating appropriate intervention measures to support victims of the attack.
The assessment exercise is being conducted in collaboration with the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and relevant security agencies, aimed at ensuring a coordinated, effective, and well-informed emergency response.
NEMA disclosed that relief materials, including food and non-food items, have already been positioned on the ground to provide immediate support to affected households in the communities.
Mrs. Umar expressed her heartfelt sympathies to the affected communities and the Kwara State Government over the unfortunate incident, assuring them of the Agency’s full support and commitment to alleviating the suffering of victims.
