The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a wanted drug kingpin, Reginald Peter Chidiebere, who jumped bail in 2013.
The Director, Media & Advocacy of the agency, Femi Babafemi, said the suspect was first arrested over cocaine importation in 2013 but fled after being granted bail.
“His name resurfaced in February 2024 following the interception of 49.70kg of heroin imported from South Africa at the Lagos airport,” Babafemi stated.

He added that a subsequent operation at the suspect’s hotel in Okota yielded 2.20kg of heroin from an associate, leading to the interim forfeiture of the property and freezing of bank accounts.
“Chidiebere eventually surrendered on 13th February 2026 and has since been taken into custody to face pending and fresh charges,” he said.

Babafemi further disclosed that NDLEA operatives dismantled a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Imo State and recorded major seizures of opioids and cannabis across several states.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), said the agency remains committed to dismantling criminal networks and bringing offenders to justice.
