The Delta State Police Command has recorded a series of significant security breakthroughs, resulting in the arrest of several suspected cultists, armed robbers, drug traffickers, and a murder suspect across the state.
These coordinated operations come shortly after the assumption of duty by the new Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, signaling a renewed focus on intelligence-led policing.
Arrests and Recoveries
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the command’s proactive measures have led to several key arrests:
- Cultism in Ubeji: Operatives from the Ekpan Division arrested 30-year-old Gift Ojulowo at Hausa Market, Ubeji. Upon sighting the police, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended. A search revealed a locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges concealed in his clothing. He has since confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity.
- Illicit Drugs in Raiders Unit: Detectives arrested 43-year-old Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso for the unlawful possession of 36 bottles of nitrous oxide, commonly known as “laughing gas.” An investigation is underway to trace the distribution network of this substance.
- Armed Robbery in Agbor: Two notorious suspects specializing in motorcycle snatching—Owakwe Chuks (37) and Bright Moses (32)—were apprehended following a discreet investigation. Offensive weapons, including a hammer, a knife, and face masks, were recovered from them.
In Ogwashi-Uku, police detectives arrested a 20-year-old suspect accused of the gruesome murder of his brother. The suspect is alleged to have stabbed his brother to death while the victim was asleep.
Commissioner of Police Aina Adesola assured residents of Delta State that the command remains relentlessly committed to pursuing criminals. He emphasized that the safety of lives and property is the priority, and that the command will continue to leverage sustained, intelligence-driven operations to bring offenders to justice.
The Delta State Police Command urges members of the public to remain vigilant and continue collaborating with security agencies to maintain peace and order within their communities.
