The Delta State Police Command has recorded a major security breakthrough with the arrest of suspected cultists, armed robbers, drug suspects and a murder suspect in a series of coordinated operations across the state.
The operations, which led to the recovery of a locally fabricated gun, live cartridges and illicit drugs, were carried out shortly after the assumption of duty of the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Aina Adesola.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, the achievements underscored the command’s renewed commitment to intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property.

Edafe disclosed that operatives of the Ekpan Division, while on confidence-building patrol at Hausa Market, Ubeji, arrested a 30-year-old suspected cultist, Gift Ojulowo, after he attempted to flee on sighting police officers.
He said a search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of “one locally fabricated gun and two live cartridges concealed in his trousers.”
“The suspect confessed to being a member of the Aye Confraternity cult group, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang,” Edafe stated.

In another operation, operatives of the Raiders Unit arrested one Obi Onuigbi Ndubuoso, 43, for unlawful possession of illicit drugs popularly known as laughing gas.
Edafe said 36 bottles of nitrous oxide were recovered from the suspect, adding that investigation had commenced to trace the source and distribution network of the substance.
The police spokesperson further revealed that two notorious armed robbers specialising in motorcycle snatching were arrested in Agbor following a discreet investigation.

“The suspects, Owakwe Chuks, 37, and Bright Moses, 32, were arrested with offensive weapons including a hammer, knife and face masks,” he said.
In Ogwashi-Uku, Edafe said detectives arrested a 20-year-old murder suspect accused of stabbing his brother to death while he slept.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, as assuring residents that “criminals will be relentlessly pursued and brought to justice through sustained intelligence-driven operations.”
