President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reconstituted the 16-member Governing Council of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, in a move aimed at strengthening leadership and institutional governance at the nation’s premier police training institution.
According to a State House statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President appointed the Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam, as chairman of the council.
MOther statutory members of the council include the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, the Inspector-General of Police, and representatives of the Federal Ministries of Education, Finance, and Justice.
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of six representatives drawn from the country’s geopolitical zones.
Those appointed are Babagana Zannah Adam (DCP Rtd.) for the North East, Emmanuel Torkuma Manger for the North Central, Maigari Abati Dikko (DIG Rtd.) for the North West, Dubem A. Obaze (KSM) for the South East, Ajibogere Toyin for the South West, and Udom Udo Ekpoudom (DIG Rtd.) for the South South.
The Commandant of the Academy, the Provost, and the Deputy I’ll Inspector-General of Police in charge of training will serve as ex officio members, while the Registrar of the Academy will function as secretary to the council.
The reconstitution of the council is expected to enhance policy direction, administrative efficiency, and professional training standards at the academy.
