Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intensified their crackdown on insurgents and criminal networks, arresting suspected terrorists and informants, rescuing kidnapped civilians, and recovering explosive devices in a series of coordinated operations across the region.
The operations, which spanned parts of Yobe and Adamawa states, led to the arrest of two suspected terrorists in Ngamdu, identified as Haruna Adamu, 32, and Ibrahim Adamu, 20. Military sources said the suspects, who reportedly fled from Zamfara State, were intercepted with items including mobile phones, charms, and suspected illicit substances. They have since been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.

In a related development, troops of the 254 Battalion under Sector 2 apprehended a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP informant, Ali Muhammad, 30, at Ngamdu Market. The suspect, described as a key target on the military’s watchlist, was found with cash, communication devices, and a notebook containing contacts believed to be linked to terrorist elements. He is currently undergoing interrogation at Sector 2 Headquarters.

Further south in Adamawa State, troops conducting a night operation around the Mubi axis arrested five suspected drug peddlers allegedly in possession of ammunition. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

In a swift response to a kidnapping incident in Madagali Local Government Area, troops, working alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), successfully rescued two abducted children, Barnabas Apagu, 12, and Ruth Apagu, 10. Efforts are ongoing to secure the release of other victims still held captive.
Meanwhile, troops operating in Kukareta, Yobe State, recovered a hand grenade believed to have been abandoned by fleeing insurgents. The device was safely secured in accordance with military protocols.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their bravery and resilience, urging them to maintain the momentum in ongoing operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks.

The statement, signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the region, while calling on the public to continue providing credible intelligence to support security efforts.
