Troops of the Joint Task Force, South East, Operation UDO KA, have recovered five firearms from a suspected arms cache in Azia Community, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, following the arrest of suspected arms racketeers.
The operation also led to the arrest of a 31-year-old bar owner, identified as Mr Ikenna Oklie, alias “Big Star”, after information obtained from the earlier arrests linked the suspected arms cache to his custody.
According to the task force, the suspects arrested earlier during the operation disclosed while being interrogated that the weapons were kept by the owner of Prince Bar in Azia Community.
Acting on the information, troops raided the location and arrested Oklie, whose preliminary interrogation reportedly led to the recovery of three pump-action guns and two locally fabricated firearms.

The five recovered weapons are now part of the evidence in the ongoing investigation into suspected illegal arms trafficking in the area.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the 302 Artillery Regiment for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The task force said the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks, curb the proliferation of illegal firearms and prevent weapons from falling into the hands of criminal elements across the South-East.
It also urged members of the public to provide credible and timely information to security agencies to support operations and strengthen security in their communities.
