Minister of Works David Umahi has inaugurated members of the Office of the Deputy Director-General (Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation) of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, with a mandate to document and publicise infrastructure projects across Nigeria.
Umahi, who serves as the council’s Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation, inaugurated the team on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Abuja, charging members to work together to ensure that information on federal infrastructure investments reaches the public.
He said the team’s responsibility would extend beyond projects handled by the Federal Ministry of Works to include infrastructure initiatives undertaken by other ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

According to him, this broader approach would provide a more comprehensive picture of infrastructure development across the country’s six geopolitical zones under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Umahi explained that members were expected to identify, document, compile and publicise relevant projects being executed by the Federal Government, stressing that the exercise should capture investments across different sectors and locations.
He consequently directed the Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement for the six geopolitical zones, who were appointed as zonal coordinators, alongside other members of the office and its secretary, to work together in identifying projects within their respective areas.

The minister said the new structure was intended to complement existing publicity efforts by the Federal Ministry of Works and the Senior Special Assistants, while providing a coordinated framework for gathering information on infrastructure projects across the country.
He emphasised that accurate documentation and effective communication were necessary to ensure that Nigerians had access to information about ongoing infrastructure investments and their impact on communities.
At the meeting, Umahi also highlighted the role of infrastructure in stimulating economic activity, connecting communities and creating opportunities for development.
“Infrastructure investment stimulates economic activities, connects communities, creates opportunities and supports the growth of other sectors of the economy,” he said.
The minister also drew attention to the Federal Government’s use of continuous reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) technology in road construction, saying the approach could reduce dependence on imported bitumen and encourage the use of locally available resources and expertise.
He added that the technology could support local economic activities, reduce foreign exchange demand associated with imported road construction materials and promote more durable infrastructure.

Umahi urged members of the newly inaugurated team to carry out their responsibilities with diligence, professionalism and a strong sense of duty, noting that effective public communication depended on accurate information and proper coordination.
The inauguration marks the establishment of a dedicated structure within the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate infrastructure-related information, mobilisation and public sensitisation ahead of the presidential campaign.
