ABU Class of ’97 Backs AIG Jimoh, Urges Due Process in Ajiran Murder Investigation

The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Political Science/International Studies Class of 1997 has expressed solidarity with the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Headquarters, Lagos, amid reports linking him to the ongoing Ajiran murder investigation.
In a letter jointly signed by the President of the association, Alhaji Umar Magaji, and its Secretary-General, Aminu Aliyu, the alumni said they had confidence in the rule of law and urged that the matter be allowed to run its full course in court.
The association noted that senior police officers are often required to handle complex and sensitive assignments in the course of their constitutional duties, stressing that allegations against public officials should be determined through lawful investigations and judicial proceedings rather than public opinion or social media narratives.
According to the letter, the group remains confident that the truth will emerge through the judicial process and reaffirmed its belief in due process, fairness and the constitutional presumption of innocence.
The alumni also encouraged the senior police officer to remain resolute, professional and steadfast in the discharge of his responsibilities, expressing confidence that his commitment to justice, integrity and the rule of law would continue to inspire public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.
The association concluded by offering prayers and best wishes for the AIG as he continues to serve the nation.
