Popular Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo has reportedly passed away at the age of 40, a development that has thrown the Nigerian entertainment industry into mourning.
Reports of the actor’s death surfaced on social media on Tuesday, with tributes pouring in from fans, colleagues and other members of the movie industry.
Confirming the development in an emotional tribute, fellow actor Godwin Nnadiekwe described Ekubo’s death as heartbreaking, saying Nollywood had lost a rare soul.
“I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul, and I’m lost for words because this wasn’t the plan, Alex Ekubo,” he wrote.
Godwin also revealed that the late actor had allegedly prepared his will before his death, a situation he described as deeply painful.
“To think you already prepared your will it’s a heartbreak I can’t quite describe. Rest well, my friend,” he added.
The actor hinted that cancer may have been responsible for Ekubo’s death, “Goodnight Alex. Cancer you did this one.”
The reported death has since triggered widespread reactions across social media, with fans and colleagues expressing shock and grief over the loss of the Nollywood star, who was widely known for his roles in several blockbuster movies and television productions.
