The African Democratic Congress has expressed grief over the death of former member of the House of Representatives, Abba Anas Adamu, who reportedly died after being abducted by bandits along the Kaduna-Abuja highway.
Adamu, a chieftain of the party in Jigawa State, represented the Birniwa/Guri/Kirikasamma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2007 and 2011.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the late politician’s death as a painful loss to his family, Jigawa State, and the party.
The party said Adamu was widely respected for his humility, accessibility, and dedication to grassroots politics and public service.
“On behalf of our National Chairman, National Secretary, the entire National Working Committee and the ADC family, we mourn the passing of a man who devoted himself to public service and grassroots politics with humility, dignity, and integrity,” the statement read.
The ADC also lamented the worsening insecurity in the country, describing the former lawmaker’s death as another grim reminder of the security challenges facing Nigerians.
The party prayed for the repose of his soul and asked Allah to grant him Aljannatul Firdaus while comforting his family and loved ones during the period of mourning.
