LAGOS – The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, AIG Margaret Ochalla, has led a significant humanitarian outreach to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yaba, and Island Maternity Hospital.
The initiative, held on Friday, January 9, 2026, was aimed at reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to compassion, empathy, and dedicated community service.
During the outreach, AIG Ochalla and her team focused on providing tangible support to indigent patients. The intervention included the donation of essential medical and relief items, as well as the settlement of outstanding medical bills for several patients. The gesture has provided immediate relief and renewed hope to many affected families struggling with healthcare costs.
Speaking during the visit, AIG Ochalla emphasized that the role of the police extends far beyond crime prevention and control. She noted that policing must incorporate humanity and a genuine desire to improve the wellbeing of the citizens they serve.
She further explained that this initiative aligns with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police, which prioritizes professionalism, deep community engagement, and the continuous strengthening of public trust in the Force.
Management and staff at both the Federal Medical Centre and Island Maternity Hospital praised the outreach, describing the intervention as both timely and deeply impactful. They applauded the FCID Annex for demonstrating a level of concern that goes beyond their statutory duties, highlighting the positive bridge being built between the police and the public.
