BIDA – The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has charged Nigerian Army personnel undergoing elite training to maintain absolute focus and full preparation for special missions critical to national security.
The COAS gave the charge during an operational visit to the 18 Brigade in Bida, where he inspected the Defence Headquarters Special Operations Forces (DHQ SOF) training facility. According to a statement from Army Headquarters, the visit aimed to assess and strengthen the readiness of elite operational units.
During the visit, the Army Chief observed the ongoing training of selected personnel currently enrolled in the Special Operations Forces (SOF) program with the Defence Special Operations Forces Training Group. He received a detailed briefing on the scope, design, and objectives of the intensive curriculum, which is designed to produce mission-ready, highly skilled operators.
Commending the instructors and trainees, the COAS noted that the high level of discipline and professionalism on display reflected the rigorous standards required for elite military operations.

“Special operations forces must remain prepared to respond swiftly and decisively to complex security threats,” the COAS stated. He reminded the trainees that they would play a decisive role in safeguarding the nation upon completion of their course.
“You must be prepared to undertake specialized tasks immediately following your graduation. There is no room for complacency in this line of duty,” he added.

Earlier, the Commander of the DHQ SOF Brigade, Brigadier General Sani Usman Ibrahim, briefed the COAS on the Brigade’s progress and its commitment to sustaining excellence in the selection and training of elite forces. The engagement concluded with the presentation of a souvenir to the COAS to mark the significance of the inspection.
