Recognition came with applause and reflection at All Saints Catholic Church as the Laity Council conferred the 2026 Humanitarian and Service Award on the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, in acknowledgement of her contributions to journalism and humanitarian service.
The honour, presented during a ceremony attended by members of the church community, celebrated Comrade Ike’s commitment to public service and professional excellence.
Receiving the recognition in spirit, Comrade Ike expressed gratitude to God for the honour and dedicated the award to both God and members of the NUJ FCT Council.
Speaking in an interview, she thanked the organisers for recognising her efforts despite her absence and said the award carries greater responsibility.
“It’s not just an award, it’s an invitation to do more,” she said.
“I pledge to continue serving humanity and advancing the cause of journalism with humility and dedication, through the help of God.”
The latest recognition adds to a growing list of honours received by Comrade Ike for her contributions to journalism and humanitarian initiatives.
The physical award was received on her behalf by the Auditor of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Rosemary Ukoko-Tega.
