The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has praised two Alpha Jet pilots for their bravery and professionalism after they safely ejected from an aircraft following an in-flight emergency at the Kainji Air Base in Niger State on Saturday.
The aircraft reportedly developed a fault shortly after take-off during a post-inspection functional test flight on December 6, 2025.
NAF spokesperson, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the pilots displayed exceptional skill by steering the aircraft away from residential areas before ejecting safely.
“They manoeuvred the aircraft away from populated areas before carrying out a safe ejection. They are currently undergoing routine medical checks,” he said.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the pilots for their courage and presence of mind, noting that their actions prevented casualties.
He also ordered that a Board of Inquiry be immediately set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the emergency.
The air force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high safety standards and protecting lives and property across the country.
