Dear Mr. President,
As Nigeria navigates its complex challenges, I’d like to highlight a concerning trend: major opposition parties collapsing into the ruling party.
This development risks undermining the checks and balances crucial for Nigeria’s growth.
In a healthy democracy, opposition voices provide vital critiques, offering alternative solutions to pressing issues. When opposition figures join the ruling party, often driven by personal interests rather than national priorities, it can stifle constructive criticism.
If everyone around you is praising your policies without scrutiny, there’s a risk you’ll receive a skewed view of reality.
A wise leader recognizes that criticism can be a valuable tool for improvement. When those praising you are motivated by personal gain rather than the nation’s interest, it can lead to policies that benefit a few rather than the many.
Nigeria needs robust debate and scrutiny to tackle its challenges effectively.
I’d like to draw on a significant part of your journey. You were a vocal critic of the Military and PDP administration, advocating for democracy and change respectively which ultimately led to your party, APC, taking the reins.
Your voice played a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s current political landscape.
Given this history, it’s clear you understand the value of constructive criticism in driving progress. While you’ve introduced commendable policies, there are areas where alternative perspectives could strengthen your agenda.
For instance, some policies have raised concerns about their impact on certain sectors or communities. As someone who benefited from the power of critique, you likely appreciate voices pointing out areas for improvement.
Specifically, Nigeria’s fiscal regime could benefit from amendment to attract investment and stimulate growth. The oil and gas sector requires critical investment to realize its potential. With a growing number of young people, investing in IT development could unlock innovation and economic opportunities.
Looking at successful models, America’s greatness is built on diversity and inclusion. They identify talent globally and leverage it to drive progress, regardless of nationality. Nigeria, with 26 years of democracy, still grapples with numerous challenges. Perhaps it’s time to consider new approaches—embracing diverse perspectives, investing in key sectors, and tapping into the potential of its people.
Nigerians are suffering, yet smiling through hardship. They deserve better. It’s time to build a Nigeria that works for everyone – like South Africa, Rwanda, Morocco, Ethiopia, and others are doing. The rhetoric and social media praise must give way to genuine introspection and change. Review the path forward, Mr. President, and do things differently.
Mr. President, I advise you not to submit to the whims and caprices of political bigots who are only working for their self-interest. The masses are wiser now, and lots of factors will determine the outcome of the 2027 election. It’s important you begin to formulate new, effective policies and create physical changes to build the confidence of the suffering masses. May God give you the wisdom, all the best !
Yours sincerely,
