Hon. Kabiru Amadu Urges Super Eagles to Maintain Focus Ahead of AFCON Quarterfinals
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, has called on the Super Eagles to remain disciplined and avoid complacency as they advance to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Hon. Amadu made the appeal following Nigeria’s convincing 4–0 win over Mozambique in Monday’s Round of 16 clash. The Super Eagles put on a dominant display, featuring a brace from Victor Osimhen, a goal and two assists from Man of the Match Ademola Lookman, and a final strike by Akor Adams.
While praising the players and the technical crew for their clinical performance, the lawmaker—who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency—emphasized that the most critical part of the tournament is still ahead. He commended the team’s attacking depth and tactical cohesion, noting that the squad’s versatility makes them a difficult opponent for any team to contain.
“The Super Eagles and the technical crew deserve great credit for their performance against Mozambique,” Amadu stated. “The team is well-composed, and with goals coming from various departments, they are incredibly hard to defend against.”
However, he cautioned the team against being carried away by the recent victory, reminding them that the mission is only complete once the trophy is secured. “The job is not done yet. The team still has three matches to win to lift the trophy. They must maintain their focus and sustain the discipline that has brought them this far,” he added.
Hon. Amadu concluded by reaffirming the unwavering support of the National Assembly and the Federal Government for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the entire team as they chase continental glory.
