Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have destroyed multiple terrorist camps and repelled coordinated attacks by insurgents during sustained military operations in the Timbuktu Triangle area of the North East.
The operation was disclosed in a statement signed by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.

Uba said the troops, operating under Operation DESERT SANITY, advanced into terrorist enclaves in Chilaria, Garin Faruk and Abirma on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

He explained that the operation was supported by the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, which provided continuous intelligence and surveillance coverage.

According to the statement, the coordinated air–ground operations enabled the troops to track insurgent movements and prevent reinforcement of the camps.
Items recovered during the operation included communication devices, AK-47 magazines, assorted ammunition, insurgent flags, vehicles, medical supplies and food items.

Uba added that underground logistics storage facilities and fuel dumps used by the terrorists were also uncovered and destroyed.
He said the troops came under armed drone attacks during the operation but maintained their advance.

“A second attack attempt later in the evening was decisively repelled, forcing the terrorists to withdraw,” he stated.
Uba noted that troops’ morale remains high and operational effectiveness sustained, despite the volatile nature of the area.

He added that the military would continue its operations to eliminate terrorist threats and restore peace and stability in the North East.
