A new chapter has opened at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, as Brigadier General I.A. Enwuchola formally assumed office as the 23rd Commander of the Corps, succeeding Brigadier General S.O. Okoigi in a brief but symbolic handover ceremony held on Thursday, October 31, 2025.
In an atmosphere filled with reflection and optimism, the outgoing Commander, Brig Gen Okoigi, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Corps through a period of transformation. He acknowledged the challenges encountered but noted significant achievements, especially in the repositioning and revitalization of Nigerian Army hospitals.

He thanked his family and officers for their unflinching support and urged continued teamwork and commitment under the new leadership. Brig Gen Okoigi particularly emphasized the importance of human capacity development through regular training and retraining of personnel as a key to sustaining excellence in service delivery.
Taking over the mantle of leadership, Brig Gen Enwuchola thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen W. Shaibu, for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead the Corps. He praised his predecessor for his selfless service and visionary leadership, pledging to consolidate on the strong foundation laid.

He assured the officers and men of a tenure anchored on fairness, professionalism, and improved welfare, while calling for their collective cooperation to drive the Corps toward greater efficiency in healthcare delivery.
The ceremony climaxed with the hoisting of the Corps’ flag, symbolizing the dawn of a new administration. The event was attended by Directors, Chief Medical Directors of Army Hospitals, Commanders, senior officers of the Medical Corps, and invited guests.
