The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has called on Nigerian youths to take the lead in shaping the future of air operations and national security through the 2025/2026 Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Literary Competition, an initiative designed to stimulate creativity, advocacy and innovation in emerging technologies.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the competition reflects the Air Force’s strategic commitment to youth engagement and intellectual development in line with modern security realities.
Ejodame disclosed that the competition, which commenced on 21 November 2025, will run until 28 February 2026, providing a platform for young Nigerians to contribute forward-looking ideas capable of enhancing air operations and strengthening national defence.
According to him, the initiative was introduced at the instance of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, as part of deliberate efforts to align youth creativity with the evolving demands of modern airpower.
“The CAS Literary Competition is designed to sharpen intellectual capacity, promote informed advocacy and encourage innovative thinking among Nigerian youths, while nurturing talents that can contribute meaningfully to national development and security,” Ejodame stated.
He explained that participants will compete in three categories — Essay, Art and Poetry — allowing for both analytical and creative interpretations of the competition’s theme.
The theme for the 2025/2026 edition, ‘Optimising Emerging Technologies for Enhanced Air Operations’, Ejodame said, underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s focus on leveraging cutting-edge technologies to improve operational effectiveness and mission outcomes.
Beyond competition, he noted that the initiative also aims to strengthen civil–military relations and empower young Nigerians to see themselves as critical stakeholders in national security and technological advancement.
Ejodame advised interested participants to consult the official flyer for guidelines, eligibility criteria and submission details, stressing that the NAF remains committed to inclusive engagement and future-ready air operations.
