ASABA – The Delta State Police Command has successfully thwarted a planned kidnapping operation in the Upper Agbarho area, recovering high-caliber firearms and ammunition during a covert security mission.
The breakthrough was announced on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who credited the success to the CP Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT) and their commitment to intelligence-driven policing.
The operation was initiated following credible intelligence reports indicating that a gang of approximately six suspected kidnappers had been sighted along a bush path, allegedly finalizing plans for a criminal strike.

On January 11, 2026, at approximately 9:35 pm, CP-SAT operatives—led by ASP Julius Robinson and supported by local community vigilantes—launched a coordinated raid on the suspects’ hideout located in an uncompleted building.
Upon discovering the approaching tactical team, the suspects opened fire. The police responded decisively, engaging the hoodlums in a gun duel that forced the gang to retreat and flee into the surrounding bush with varying degrees of injuries.
Items recovered at the scene include:
- One FNC rifle loaded with live ammunition.
- One pump-action gun.
- Thirty-three rounds of live cartridges.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Aina Adesola, praised the bravery of the CP-SAT operatives and the effective use of intelligence. He reaffirmed the command’s stance that Delta State will remain “hostile to all forms of criminality.”
A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects. The police command continues to urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals with visible gunshot wounds to the nearest station.
