A new book aimed at deepening journalism practice in Nigeria’s crime and security reporting space will be formally unveiled on Thursday, March 26, 2026, in Lagos, with top dignitaries expected to grace the occasion.
The book, “Crime Beat Reporting in Nigeria,” authored by veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of Atlanticnewsonline, Frank Oshanugor, will be presented at a ceremony scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at Osun Hall, Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
Organisers say the event is expected to draw key stakeholders from the security, banking, maritime and media sectors, underscoring the relevance of crime reporting in national discourse.
Chairman of the Book Presentation Committee, Emma Nnadozie, disclosed that the ceremony will be chaired by Davidson Akhimien, a former military intelligence officer and Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of King David Group of Companies.
The book will be publicly presented by industrialist Richard Ifeanyi Agbapuru, while academic Chijioke Uwasomba will serve as the reviewer.
Also expected at the event is veteran journalist and traditional figure, Janet Mba Afolabi, who will serve as Mother of the Day.
Nnadozie noted that the book draws extensively from Oshanugor’s decades-long experience in journalism, particularly in crime reporting, and is expected to serve as a valuable resource for students of Mass Communication and media practitioners.
Oshanugor, who has spent about 30 years in active journalism, previously authored “Terrorism: The Nigeria Experience (1995–1998)” published in 2004. He is also known for publishing Security Express magazine for seven years, focusing on security-related issues.
A graduate of University of Port Harcourt, he holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from University of Lagos, as well as a Diploma in Mass Communication from Auchi Polytechnic.
Beyond journalism, he is a Certified Protection Officer (CPO) accredited by the International Foundation for Protection Officers in the United States.
He began his career with Post Express newspaper, where he rose to the position of Deputy News Editor before venturing into other media engagements, including book publishing and media consultancy.
