The Defence Headquarters has confirmed that sixteen officers arrested in October 2025 for acts of indiscipline and breach of service regulations will soon be arraigned before military courts.
The Director of Defence Information, Major General Samaila Uba, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
He said investigations into the cases had been concluded and the report forwarded to appropriate authorities.
“The investigation has been concluded in line with established military procedures, and the report has been forwarded to superior authority,” Uba said.
According to him, some of the officers were found to be involved in alleged plots to overthrow the government.
“The findings identified a number of officers with allegations of plotting to overthrow the government, which is inconsistent with military ethics and values,” he stated.
Uba explained that the affected personnel would face trial under the Armed Forces Act.
“Those with cases to answer will be formally arraigned before appropriate military judicial panels,” he said.
He stressed that the action was strictly disciplinary and not politically motivated.
“The measures being taken are purely disciplinary and part of institutional mechanisms to preserve discipline and operational effectiveness,” Uba said.
He added that the Armed Forces would continue to uphold professionalism and loyalty to constitutional authority.
