The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned a man, Mohammed Abdullahi Korimi, before the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri over an alleged N25,647,000 fraud.
Korimi was arraigned on Thursday before Justice Aisha Kumaliya on two counts bordering on criminal misappropriation and obtaining by false pretence.
According to the charge, the defendant allegedly obtained 400 bags of beans valued at N25.6m from one Maina Hassan Madube in July 2025 under the pretext of supplying them to customers in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
The prosecution told the court that the defendant promised to pay within one week but allegedly failed to do so.
“That you… with intent to defraud obtained 400 bags of beans… a representation which you knew to be false,” the charge read in part.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Counsel for the EFCC, S.O. Saka, urged the court to fix a trial date and remand the defendant.
Justice Kumaliya adjourned till April 22, 2026 for hearing of the bail application and ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Maiduguri Maximum Correctional Facility.
