Elumelu Secures Strong APC Endorsement in Aniocha North Ahead of Reps Bid
Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, has intensified his grassroots consultations as he seeks a return to the Green Chamber, receiving a resounding endorsement from leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The high-level meeting, hosted by the APC leader in the LGA, Chief Dame Nkem Okwuofu, brought together key stakeholders, including the Council Chairman, Hon. Emma Bazim; Party Chairman, Sir Mathew Chinye; Hon. Dr Odi Odinigwe; Hon. Kris Njiokwuemeni; Princess Ada Kachikwu; Prince Uzoma Idaboh; Hon. Sir Vincent Ugbelase; Hon. Jaunty Okwudi; Barr. Ashibuogwu; Barr. Tony Nwokwu; Chief Ignatus Memeh, among others.
Addressing the gathering, Elumelu apologised for his inability to engage each leader individually, citing the constraints imposed by the new electoral timetable and ongoing party congresses.
He explained that his consultation was necessitated by changes in the candidate selection process introduced by the new electoral framework, noting that the system now favours consensus arrangements, with direct primaries as a fallback where consensus fails.
Highlighting his track record in the National Assembly, Elumelu urged the leaders to consider his contributions to the constituency in their decision-making process.
Speaking on behalf of the leadership, Chief Okwuofu disclosed that feedback from other local government areas had been overwhelmingly positive, with party leaders pledging support for Elumelu’s ambition and indicating no intention to sponsor rival aspirants.
She thereafter sought the position of stakeholders present, who unanimously affirmed their confidence in Elumelu’s performance and endorsed his return bid.
A similar wave of support was recorded in Oshimili North Local Government Area, where party executives in Akwukwu-Igbo also expressed alignment with his aspiration.
