Flourish Garden College Charges Graduates to Shun Cultism, Fraud, Embrace Integrity, Excellence

The management of the Flourish Garden College has charged its 2026 graduating students to uphold integrity, embrace lifelong learning and resist social vices, stressing that good character, rather than academic certificates alone, will determine their success in life.
The charge was given by the Managing Director Mrs Rosemary Ijeoma Osahor and the Principal, Mr. Gabriel Anyata during the graduation ceremony for the Year 9 (JS3) and Year 12 (SS3) graduating students, where they urged the graduands to become worthy ambassadors of the institution and responsible leaders in society.
Addressing the graduating class, the Managing Director described the ceremony as a celebration of perseverance, hard work and fulfilled dreams.
”Today is one of those beautiful days when we celebrate not just academic success, but dreams taking shape, hard work paying off, and the beginning of exciting new adventures,” he said.
Congratulating the graduates, he added: “To our graduates, congratulations! You have made it. Please give yourselves a well-deserved round of applause. You’ve earned it!”
Reflecting on the students’ academic journey, the Managing Director noted that their success was built on years of consistency, discipline and determination despite the challenges along the way.
”Graduation is a special day because it reminds us that every great achievement begins with small, consistent steps. Every early morning, every test, every project, every correction from your teachers, and yes—even every time someone told you to ‘sit properly’ or ‘keep quiet in class’—has contributed to the person you are becoming,” he said.
He encouraged the graduates not to be discouraged by life’s difficulties, reminding them that every setback offers an opportunity for growth.
”Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons. Sometimes the questions come before the answers. Sometimes the examination comes before the lesson. But never forget this: every challenge you face is preparing you for something greater than you can imagine.”
The Managing Director stressed that while academic excellence remains important, employers and society place greater value on integrity, responsibility and compassion.
”As you leave this school, the world will not ask only what grades you earned. It will ask questions like: Can you be trusted? Can you solve problems? Can you work with others? Can you remain honest when no one is watching? Can you be kind in a world that sometimes forgets compassion? These are the qualities that define true success.”
He further reminded the students that technology and careers would continue to evolve, but good character would remain indispensable.
”The future belongs to people who are willing to learn, unlearn, and learn again. Technology is changing rapidly. Careers are evolving. Some of the jobs you will have in the future may not even exist today. But one thing will never go out of style—good character.
”Your certificate may open the first door, but your attitude will determine how many more doors remain open.”
The Managing Director also acknowledged the sacrifices made by parents and guardians, describing the graduation ceremony as a shared achievement.
”To our dear parents and guardians, today is your graduation too! You have endured school fees, early morning school runs, forgotten lunch boxes, examination anxiety, endless assignments, and the famous question every evening: ‘Have you finished your homework?’ Thank you for your sacrifices, encouragement, prayers, and unwavering support. This celebration belongs to you as much as it belongs to your children.”
He equally commended teachers for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the students academically and morally.
”To our exceptional teachers and staff, thank you for being more than educators. You have been mentors, counsellors, cheerleaders, disciplinarians, and sometimes detectives trying to discover who was talking at the back of the class! Your dedication has shaped lives, and for that we are deeply grateful.”
Offering practical guidance to the graduating class, the Managing Director urged them to pursue excellence with humility and resilience.
”Dream boldly, because small dreams rarely change the world. Work hard, because success has never been a close friend of laziness. Stay humble, because no matter how high you rise, someone helped you get there. Be kind, because people may forget your achievements, but they will always remember how you made them feel. And never stop learning, because the moment you think you know everything is the moment you stop growing.”
He added that setbacks should not discourage them from pursuing their aspirations.
”Remember that failure is not the opposite of success; it is often part of the journey to success. Every successful person you admire has experienced disappointment, rejection, or setbacks. What made the difference was that they refused to give up.”
The Managing Director reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to producing graduates who would make positive impacts in society.
”As Managing Director, I am proud that this institution is not only committed to producing excellent students but also responsible citizens, future leaders, and people of character. We believe that education should prepare young people not just to earn a living but to make a meaningful difference wherever they find themselves.”
He urged the graduands to remain ambassadors of excellence wherever they go, saying, “Carry the values of this school with pride. Be ambassadors of excellence. Let your success inspire others, and let your kindness leave lasting footprints.”
In his address, the Principal, Mr. Ewhe Gabriel Anyata, described the occasion as a moment of gratitude and celebration, especially for the SS3 students completing their secondary education.
”Today is a day of gratitude. We return all glory to Almighty God, whose faithfulness has sustained us throughout the years. His grace has guided every learner from their first day in this school to this moment of celebration,” he said.
He thanked parents for their confidence in the school and praised teachers for moulding students into responsible young adults.
”Your sacrifices, encouragement, prayers, and partnership have contributed immensely to the success we celebrate today,” he said, adding that teachers had “invested knowledge, time, and genuine care in preparing our graduates for the future.”
Speaking directly to the JS3 graduates, the Principal urged them to remain focused as they progressed to the senior secondary level.
”As you proceed to the Senior Secondary School, remember that the choices you make from today will determine your future. Build good study habits, remain disciplined, respect your teachers, and strive for excellence in everything you do.”
To the SS3 graduates, he stressed that character would remain their greatest asset after leaving school.
”As you step beyond these school gates, always remember that life will test your knowledge, but even more importantly, it will test your character. Your certificates may open doors, but your integrity, humility, discipline, honesty, resilience, and respect for others will determine how far you go.”
The Principal warned the graduates against engaging in criminal and anti-social behaviour, urging them to stay away from cultism, examination malpractice, internet fraud and drug abuse.
”Never allow temporary pleasure to destroy your permanent future. Avoid negative peer pressure, cultism, examination malpractice, drug abuse, internet fraud, and every form of dishonest living. The world may sometimes celebrate shortcuts, but lasting success is built on diligence, competence, and integrity.”
He also encouraged them to embrace technology responsibly while pursuing higher education, vocational training or entrepreneurship.
”As you pursue admission into higher institutions, vocational training, or entrepreneurship, remain lifelong learners. Read widely, think critically, develop relevant skills, embrace technology responsibly, and continue to improve yourselves. The future belongs to those who are prepared for it.”
Highlighting the school’s academic achievements, the Principal disclosed that the graduating class recorded outstanding performances in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
”We are particularly proud of the academic progress recorded by this graduating class. In the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, our candidates recorded commendable performances, with two students scoring above 300 and several others scoring above 200. These achievements demonstrate that excellence is attainable through hard work, discipline, effective teaching, and the support of committed parents.”
He reaffirmed the school’s commitment to holistic education.
”Our mission is not merely to prepare students for examinations but to prepare them for life.”
Before concluding, the Principal challenged the graduates to embrace three enduring values.
”First, never stop learning. Second, protect your character more than your reputation. Third, trust God in every stage of your journey, for success without purpose is empty, but success built on faith, integrity, and service leaves a lasting legacy.”
He urged the graduates to make their parents, teachers and alma mater proud by living lives of purpose and service.
”Dear graduands, the future is waiting for you. Go into the world with confidence, wisdom, courage, and humility. Make your parents proud. Make your teachers proud. Make your school proud. Above all, live lives that glorify God and positively impact humanity.”
The ceremony ended with congratulations to the Class of 2026 amid prayers for God’s continued guidance upon the graduates, their families, the school and the nation.
