The third day of the ongoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Capacity Building Training/Workshop for officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command, spotlighted emotional intelligence, professionalism, and tactical restraint as critical tools for effective policing.

The session, themed “Be Courageously Calm During Confrontations,” equipped participants with practical skills to remain composed under pressure, de-escalate volatile situations, and make sound, ethical decisions while on duty.
Trainers emphasized that such competencies are essential to safeguarding lives, enhancing officer safety, and strengthening public confidence in law enforcement.

Officers were guided on managing stress responses, communicating effectively during high-tension encounters, and applying proportionate force only when absolutely necessary.
The training underscored that true courage in policing is demonstrated not merely through the use of force, but through discipline, restraint, and respect for human life.

The workshop forms part of the IGP’s broader reform agenda aimed at building a more professional, people-centred, and accountable police force across the country.
The Anambra State Command reaffirmed its commitment to translating the lessons from the training into daily policing practices that promote peace, public trust, and the rule
