Young innovators from across Imo State took centre stage in Owerri as more than 200 secondary schools competed in the grand finale of the Pearls Quiz Competition, a sustainability-focused initiative jointly organised by NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc.
The competition, which celebrated academic excellence, innovation, and environmental consciousness, featured students presenting creative projects developed from recyclable materials sourced within their school environments a move widely praised for promoting practical learning and climate action.
Speaking at the event, Barr. Chinenyenwa Blessing Owuamalam, Special Adviser to the Imo State Government on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), described the initiative as a commendable platform for empowering young people with sustainability knowledge and innovation-driven thinking.

According to her, the projects presented by the students reflected the core values of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education and Goal 13 on Climate Action.
She noted that the enthusiasm and creativity displayed by the students underscored the growing awareness among young Nigerians on environmental sustainability and the need for innovative solutions to climate-related challenges.

Owuamalam reaffirmed the commitment of the Imo State Government to supporting programmes that equip young people with the knowledge, skills, and awareness needed to build a sustainable future.
She also commended the organisers, NNPC Limited and Seplat Energy Plc, for driving impactful educational initiatives capable of shaping responsible future leaders.
