Jigawa Police Arrest Suspected Vandals, Cattle Rustlers, Drug Dealers, Recover 3,427 Illicit Drugs

The Jigawa State Police Command says it has recorded major operational breakthroughs with the arrest of suspected vandals, cattle rustlers, thieves and drug dealers, recovering stolen property, three cows, vandalised armoured cable wires and 3,427 assorted illicit drugs in separate operations across the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Lawan Adam, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, said the successes were recorded through intelligence-led policing and sustained crime-fighting operations aimed at tackling criminal activities across Jigawa State.
According to him, operatives on July 8 arrested a suspected vandal found in possession of armoured electric cable wires believed to have been cut from behind Hotel Hotel in Dutse.
He said further investigation led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Aminu Mohammed, 17, Abdullahi Mustapha, 17, and Sani Umar, 18, all residents of Dutse Local Government Area, for allegedly receiving the vandalised cables and other suspected stolen items.
”The suspects are currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the statement said.
In another operation, police operatives attached to the Dutse Division arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Suleiman Muhammad of Mariri Quarters, Kano State, allegedly in possession of a stolen PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console and two plasma television sets valued at about ₦2.5 million.
The command said the recovered items were traced to their rightful owners and released to them on bond, while the suspect would be prosecuted after investigations.
The police also said operatives of the Guri Division, working with members of a local vigilante group, arrested a suspected cattle rustler with three stolen cows allegedly concealed in his compound.
According to the statement, the cattle have been recovered and handed over to their owner, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
In its crackdown on illicit drug trafficking, the command said coordinated raids on identified drug hotspots in Dutse, Gumel and Kazaure Local Government Areas led to the arrest of three suspected drug dealers identified as Garba Muhammad, alias Dare; Buhari Umar, alias Uban Kasa; and Auwalu Dan Jos.
Police said the operation resulted in the recovery of 3,427 assorted illicit drugs, including 1,440 capsules of Exol, 258 tablets of Tramadol, 419 Pregabalin tablets, 679 tablets of D5, 80 tubes of rubber solution, four blocks and 551 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, as well as ₦100,660 suspected to be proceeds of drug sales.
The command said all the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and dedication, while appreciating residents for providing credible intelligence that aided the arrests.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the offensive against criminal activities and urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by reporting suspicious persons and activities for prompt action.
