Dear H.E., Governor Monday Okpebholo,
I am writing to express my disappointment in your leadership. Your actions seem to suggest that the best hands are a threat to your government. I am one of your supporters, and I went out of my way to promote your work and defend your character. However, I have been dismayed by your recent decisions, and pattern in laying off intellectuals and best hands.
As someone who helped shape your media unit through
your pioneer Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, I am particularly concerned about his removal. The newsletter we started has continued to thrive under your new media team, which validates the good work we did. Why was Itua redeployed without being given a new role?
It appears that you are surrounding yourself with people who may not have your best interests at heart. Your reactions to lies, blackmails, criticism within your government and perceived threats are causing concern. A good leader values intellectuals, cherishes talent, and does not undermine people’s hard-earned reputations.
I urge you to reconsider your approach and work with the best hands. Manage people effectively, and bring back those who were unfairly removed. This is because, your enemies are closing in, and it is time to decide who you want by your side, Mr. Governor.
Let me use this opportunity to state that I have been unfairly denied the right to hold political positions by the Edo North Political leaders, despite my extensive experience and involvement in numerous elections, because of my unwavering commitment to integrity, which seems to be at odds with our leaders’ interests.
I will continue to support you from my enclave, but with caution. I pray for the well-being of Edo State and Nigeria.
Sincerely,
Comr. (Amb.) Lois Otse Adams, NIPR, NUJ, ANA, AWF, ACSPN; Ph.D (Hons.), Ph.D (C.ed), Ph.D (Pol. Comm), M.A. (Theo.), M.A (Media Arts), PGD (Theo.), PGD (Journ.), B.Sc (M.Comm.), HND (M Comm.), Dip. Cert. (Creat. Writ.) & Dip. Cert. (Comp. Oper.).
