The Defence Headquarters has announced major operational gains by troops across the country, including the neutralisation of terrorists, destruction of camps and rescue of kidnapped victims.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, who disclosed this in Abuja, said operations conducted from February 9 to 13 yielded significant breakthroughs.
He said troops recovered “automatic weapons, RPG tubes, machine guns, locally fabricated guns and IED-making materials,” adding that sustained pressure had disrupted terrorist logistics networks.
He added,”In the North-East, Operation HADIN KAI eliminated dozens of insurgents and rescued 11 abductees. Air strikes in Borno State destroyed terrorist structures.
”Operation FANSAN YAMMA in the North-West recorded arrests and rescues across Zamfara, Kano and Katsina States.
”In Plateau and Kaduna States, troops arrested a wanted kidnap suspect, Kamaru Chawai, and rescued victims.
”In Kogi forests, troops captured Batijjo’s Camp and freed over 13 kidnapped victims.”
According to him, Operation DELTA SAFE destroyed nine illegal refineries and arrested 11 oil thieves, while in the South-East, eight suspects were arrested during cordon-and-search operations.
Maj.-Gen. Onoja said, “The Armed Forces remain committed to denying terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action anywhere within the country.”
He conveyed the commendation of CDS, Gen. Oluyede, who praised troops’ professionalism and sacrifice.
