The Nigerian Navy has distributed educational materials to pupils in Egweama community as part of activities marking its 70th anniversary celebration.
The outreach was carried out by Forward Operating Base FORMOSO across several schools in the riverine community on May 26.
Schools that benefited from the exercise included St. Mathew School 1 and 2 Egweama, Community Primary School Amugbo, Migrant Fisherman’s Children School Egweama, Migrant Fisherman’s School Egeregere, St. Philip School and God Powered National Academy Egweama.

Speaking during the event, the Commanding Officer of FOB FORMOSO, SK Haruna, encouraged the pupils to take their education seriously.
He described education as an important tool for success and urged the children to stay away from illicit drug abuse.
Haruna also advised them to report anyone attempting to lure them into criminal or harmful activities.

The naval officer commended the Egweama community for supporting the Nigerian Navy and maintaining peace in the area.
He further urged parents to invest in quality education and moral upbringing for their children.

Pupils and teachers expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Navy for the outreach programme.
