The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a former councillor in Lagos State, Sheleru Sadiq Olalekan, for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
Olalekan, who represented the Orimedu community in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, was arrested at his residence in Ilado where operatives recovered 40 kilograms of skunk.

NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement, said the suspect admitted ownership of the drugs.
“The 45-year-old ex-local council chief was arrested at his residence where a search was conducted and 40 kilograms of skunk were recovered,” Babafemi said.
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers in Abuja intercepted a businessman with drugs concealed in baby diapers.

“When his luggage was searched, 1,000 pills of tapentadol 250mg were found hidden inside baby diapers,” the agency said.
The suspect, Emeka Hyginus Okwor, reportedly told investigators that he was transporting the drugs from Enugu State to Niger State.
NDLEA operatives also intercepted a Cameroonian national travelling with Colorado, a synthetic cannabis strain, concealed in a standing fan carton along the Kabba–Obajana highway in Kogi State.

Meanwhile, operatives in Niger State recovered 500 components used for improvised explosive devices from a commercial bus.
According to the agency, the intended recipient, identified as Osama Abdullahi, was later arrested during a follow-up operation.

Other drug seizures were recorded in Adamawa, Kano, Ogun, Delta and Edo states during operations carried out by NDLEA commands.
Babafemi said the agency also intensified its War Against Drug Abuse awareness campaign in schools and communities across the country.

NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) commended officers involved in the operations and urged them to sustain the anti-drug fight.
