Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered consignments of high potency illicit drugs concealed in water purifier machines shipped from the Netherlands to Lagos.
Femi Babafemi, Director, Media and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, the illicit consignments, including three kilograms of ketamine and 199 grams of MDMA, popularly known as Ecstasy, were discovered during an operation at a courier company in Lagos on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Babafemi said that in Kaduna State, NDLEA operatives arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, alongside another suspect, Salomi Ezekiel, 38, after 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246 kilograms were recovered from their residence in the Gonin Gora area on Sunday, May 24.

He added that the agency also intercepted a cache of 380 rounds of military-grade 7.62mm ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna highway near Jere.
According to him, the ammunition was allegedly being transported to Katsina State by a 30-year-old suspect identified as Sunusi Musa.

Babafemi noted that the suspect and the recovered ammunition had been transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation and necessary action.
He further disclosed that NDLEA operatives in Niger State, acting on credible intelligence, raided a warehouse at Gidan Kukah in Bosso Local Government Area where 457 kilograms of skunk were recovered on Wednesday, May 27.
According to him, a suspect, Godwin Zakka, 46, was subsequently arrested at his residence in the Gbeganu area of Minna in connection with the seizure.

In Enugu State, Babafemi said operatives on patrol along the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway intercepted a commercial vehicle travelling to Taraba State on Thursday, May 28.
He explained that a search conducted on the vehicle, marked JAY-158-YF, led to the recovery of 22,000 pills of tramadol, 100 ampoules of pentazocine, and 200 grams of bromazepam.
Babafemi said a suspect, James Maigari Wisdom, was arrested in connection with the seizure.
He also stated that the agency’s Commands and formations across the country intensified their War Against Drug Abuse sensitisation campaign in schools, worship centres, workplaces, and communities during the week.
The sensitisation activities, according to him, included enlightenment lectures at Government Secondary School, Adiabo in Cross River State; St Patrick’s Memorial College, Wukari in Taraba State; Roman Catholic Mission Nursery and Primary School, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos; and Kings Secondary School, Amawbia in Anambra State, among others.
Babafemi further said Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers and personnel of the Kaduna, Niger, Enugu Commands and the Directorate of Operations and General Investigation for the arrests and seizures.
He added that Marwa praised their balanced approach to drug supply reduction and anti-drug abuse sensitisation efforts, while urging them not to relent in the ongoing fight against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
