In a significant recognition of his unwavering dedication to advancing sustainable development across Nigeria, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, former member of the House of Representatives, is set to be honored with the Champion of Sustainable Development Award by the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE).
Elumelu’s visionary leadership in human capital development, education, and infrastructure has left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s economic growth. His tireless efforts in promoting education, healthcare, and social infrastructure have not only contributed to Nigeria’s resilience but have also aligned seamlessly with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union Agenda 2063.
As part of the recognition, FUPRE has announced the establishment of an Endowment Chair on Sustainable Development in his name, cementing his legacy for future generations. The university will also conduct a comprehensive study to assess the transformative impact of Elumelu’s work on Nigeria’s sustainable future.

This prestigious award will be formally conferred during FUPRE’s 5th Anniversary roundtable on sustainable development, themed “Adaptive Local Content Mechanisms as a Panacea for Sustainable Development,” set to take place on April 22, 2026, in Asaba.
