ABUJA – Ngozi Theodora Okeke has expressed profound joy following her promotion to the rank of Commandant within the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
Okeke is among 113 Deputy Commandants (DCCs) recently elevated to the rank of full Corps Commandant (CC). The promotion exercise, described by the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Audi, was designed to clear a significant backlog, with some officers having remained in their previous rank for eight to ten years.
During the decoration ceremony held on Thursday at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, Commandant Okeke described the promotion as a major milestone in her career. She extended her gratitude to the Minister of Interior and the NSCDC leadership for their magnanimity, vowing to uphold the core ethics and integrity of the Corps.
Beyond her military career, Okeke is a distinguished intellectual and author. Her published works include titles available through Trafford Publishing (USA) and Amazon.com, with several additional manuscripts currently in development.
Hailing from Enugwu-Agidi in Anambra State, Okeke’s educational journey is extensive:
- Early Education: WAEC and GCE obtained in Agbor, Delta State.
- Higher Education: NCE from Agbor College of Education; Diploma in Journalism from the Independent Journalism Centre, Lagos; BSc in Marketing from Houdegbe North American University; and an MSc in Marketing (Public Relations) from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
- Further Studies: BSc/B.Ed in Political Science/Education Management from Enugu State University. She is currently a PhD research student in Peace and Conflict Studies at the Federal University, Lokoja.
Her professional portfolio includes advanced certifications in Intelligence Forensic Studies, Crisis Management, and Countering Violent Extremism.
Commandant Okeke has served the NSCDC across various states and specialized units, including:
- Public Relations: Former PRO for Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Kwara State Commands.
- Field Command: Divisional Officer (DO) for Ojo Alaba, Surulere, Somolu, and Amuwo Odofin divisions in Lagos.
- Specialized Roles: Commander of Lagos Airports; Head of Counter-Terrorism in Nasarawa; and Head of Anti-Human Trafficking in Osun State.
- Current Post: Head of the Private Guard Company (PGC) Department at the Kogi State Command.
Okeke is an active member of several professional bodies, including the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). She remains a dedicated advocate for peace, security, and professional excellence.
