Nigerian Army Disowns Fake 2027 Recruitment Advert, Warns Job Seekers Against Fraudsters

The Nigerian Army has disowned a fake recruitment advertisement circulating on social media and other online platforms, warning Nigerians to disregard the fraudulent notice claiming applications have opened for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2027.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the Army described the advertisement as false and warned prospective applicants against falling victim to fraudsters posing as recruitment agents.
According to the Army, the fake notice did not originate from the Nigerian Army and should be ignored.
It cautioned job seekers not to apply through or patronise any individual, group or website claiming to be conducting recruitment on behalf of the service, stressing that no payments should be made to anyone for enlistment.
The Army reiterated that all its recruitment and commissioning exercises are free, transparent and merit-based, adding that official recruitment announcements are only published through national newspapers, the Nigerian Army’s verified social media platforms and other recognised official communication channels.
It further emphasised that no recruitment form is sold and that no individual or agent has been authorised to facilitate enlistment or demand money at any stage of the recruitment process.
The military also warned those behind the fake advertisement to desist from the criminal act, revealing that security agencies have been mobilised to track down and prosecute those producing, circulating or using the fraudulent recruitment notice to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians.
”Anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law,” the statement warned.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the integrity of its recruitment process and urged members of the public to verify all recruitment information through official Army communication channels.
It also advised Nigerians to promptly report any suspicious recruitment activity to the nearest military formation or security agency.
