The National Identity Management Commission has launched dedicated WhatsApp and Live Chat customer support platforms as part of efforts to improve service delivery and provide faster responses to National Identification Number-related enquiries across the country.
The Commission said the initiative was designed to enhance accessibility, strengthen customer engagement and reduce the burden of physical visits to NIMC offices by Nigerians and legal residents seeking identity management services.
In a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications Unit, Kayode Adegoke, the Commission disclosed that the digital support platforms were introduced as part of ongoing reforms and digital transformation initiatives under the leadership of the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer, Abisoye Coker-Odusote.
According to the Commission, members of the public can now access real-time support through the Live Chat feature available on the official NIMC website and the newly introduced official WhatsApp support line.
The statement noted that Nigerians and legal residents could access support services through the official NIMC website at NIMC Official Website and the official WhatsApp support line on +234 701 566 6971.
NIMC explained that the initiative aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu aimed at improving public sector efficiency and expanding access to government services through technology-driven solutions.
“The newly introduced platforms are designed to provide prompt responses to enquiries, real-time guidance, and improved customer interaction from anywhere and at any time, reducing the need for physical visits while enhancing user experience and operational efficiency,” the statement read.
The Commission further stated that under the leadership of Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, it had continued to implement strategic reforms and innovative digital solutions focused on expanding access, strengthening public trust and improving identity management service delivery.
NIMC encouraged Nigerians and legal residents to take advantage of the new communication platforms for verified information, updates and prompt assistance regarding NIN services and other identity management matters.
The Commission also warned citizens to remain vigilant and engage only through official communication channels in order to avoid misinformation, scams and fraudulent activities.
