The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that its Ward-Level National Identification Number (NIN) enrolment drive, which commenced on February 16, 2026, is ongoing and progressing steadily across the federation.
In a statement issued and signed by Kayode Adegoke, PhD, Head, Corporate Communications, NIMC, the Commission reiterated that the National Identification Number remains a foundational requirement for accessing critical government services in Nigeria.
The agency therefore urged citizens and legal residents who are yet to enroll to take advantage of the decentralized ward-level exercise by presenting themselves at designated enrolment centres within their respective wards.
According to NIMC, the initiative is part of efforts to deepen inclusive identity coverage nationwide and ensure that no eligible person is left out of the national database.
To ensure seamless registration, the Commission advised members of the public to check the official website, www.nimc.gov.ng, for the nearest designated enrolment point within their ward.
It also urged applicants to cooperate fully with enrolment officials and provide accurate information during registration to avoid future data discrepancies.
The Commission encouraged the public to visit and follow its verified communication channels for updates and announcements, including its official website and social media platforms.
NIMC’s verified social media accounts include:
• X (formerly Twitter): @nimc_ng
• Facebook: National Identity Management Commission – NIMC
• Instagram: @nimc_ng
The agency further provided additional service channels for Nigerians seeking specific identity services.
For general enquiries, the public can contact the Commission via www.nimc.gov.ng or call 08000616462.
For pre-enrolment services, applicants are directed to penrol.nimc.gov.ng.
Those seeking data modification services are advised to visit selfservicemodification.nimc.gov.ng.
NIMC also encouraged Nigerians to download the NINAUTH mobile application available on iOS and Google Play Store to access digital identity authentication services.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to providing assured identity for all Nigerians and residents.
