The Police Service Commission (PSC) has commenced a training workshop for its staff as part of preparations for the recruitment of 50,000 additional constables into the Nigeria Police Force.
The workshop, which opened on Tuesday, is aimed at equipping PSC personnel with the procedural knowledge and operational skills required to ensure a transparent and seamless recruitment process.
Declaring the session open on behalf of the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), Hon. Justice Paul Adamu Galumje (JSC rtd), Honourable Commissioner at the Commission, conveyed the Chairman’s goodwill to participants and facilitators.

Justice Galumje said the recruitment exercise aligns with the security vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the directive reflects the President’s concern about internal security.
“It is therefore our responsibility to work hard in order to succeed in the implementation of the President’s directive, especially when all that is required has been made available,” he stated.

In his keynote address, DIG (Dr.) Taiwo Lakanu (rtd), Chairman of the PSC Standing Committee on NPF Matters, described the recruitment as a bold and timely intervention to address the nation’s growing security needs.
He emphasised that the integrity of the recruitment process would determine the future effectiveness of the Police Force, urging participants to uphold professionalism and transparency.
The training will focus on recruitment guidelines, ethical standards and legal compliance to ensure a fair and credible exercise.
