The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast sunshine, cloudiness and thunderstorms across the country from Monday to Wednesday.
The agency disclosed this in its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja.
NiMet said sunny and cloudy skies are expected over the northern region throughout the forecast period.
“Sunny and cloudy skies are anticipated over the region throughout the forecast period,” the agency said.
It predicted sunny skies over the southern region with patches of clouds and chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states later in the day.
On Tuesday, the agency forecast sunny and hazy skies over the northern and central regions.
“Sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated over the southern region,” NiMet said.
“Chances of thunderstorms with light rains are expected over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states during the morning hours.”
“Later in the day, thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Imo, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa states,” it added.
For Wednesday, NiMet predicted sunny and hazy skies over the northern region in the morning, with dust haze in the afternoon and evening.
The agency envisaged sunny and hazy skies over the central region throughout the period.
It also forecast cloudy skies over the southern region with sunny intervals in the morning and chances of isolated thunderstorms over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.
NiMet warned that dust particles are in suspension over the north-central region and urged residents to take precautions.
The agency advised people with asthmatic and respiratory conditions to be careful.
“Driving under rain should be done with caution. Airline operators should obtain airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective planning,” it said.
