The Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, Prof. Charles Anosike, has formalised a strategic partnership with the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Dr. Danjuma Ismaila, to strengthen professional training and capacity development in Nigeria’s aviation and meteorological sectors.
The agreement was sealed with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at NiMet headquarters in Abuja.

According to the agency, the partnership is designed to enhance collaboration in professional training, technical capacity building and improved service delivery across both institutions.
Under the terms of the MoU, NiMet and NCAT will collaborate on the use of training facilities, advisory support for aviation training programmes and the delivery of specialised long- and short-term courses for NiMet personnel.
The framework also provides for staff exchange programmes, joint training initiatives and the utilisation of NiMet’s Training School in Oshodi, Lagos, for ICAO-compliant aviation training.
Key focus areas of the partnership include aviation operations and management, safety management systems, crisis management, aviation security, air navigation systems, airport operations and jointly organised programmes such as Diploma training in Aviation Meteorology.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Prof. Anosike reaffirmed NiMet’s commitment to sustained human capital development, stressing that continuous investment in training, technical collaboration and institutional partnerships remains essential to advancing operational excellence.
He noted that strengthening professional competence across the aviation and meteorological value chain would support safer and more efficient air navigation services in Nigeria.
